IMC Power damage form

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Damage Form feature in the Power Direct App was developed in response to feedback from the IMCNA Equipment Team, aiming to streamline how drivers report chassis damage. Previously, drivers emailed the equipment team manually, often resulting in missing or incomplete information.

The new in-app form allows drivers to report damage directly within their dispatch, ensuring greater accuracy, speed, and consistency. Available for Accepted and In Progress dispatches, drivers can easily access the Damage Form by tapping the toolbox icon at the bottom of the Dispatch Details screen.
The form enables drivers to:

  • Upload photos of the damage.

  • Enter detailed notes about the issue. Once submitted, the completed form is automatically emailed to DL-IMCNA-Repairs, eliminating the manual email process and improving the quality of incoming damage reports.

PROCESS

I partnered with the IMCNA Equipment Team to understand pain points with the previous email-based reporting system, which often lacked the structure needed for efficient repairs.

During the design phase, I drew inspiration from an Automotive Incident Reporting Flow I found on Dribbble (link here). I loved the simplicity and clarity of that flow, and adapted a similar approach for Power Direct — emphasizing a step-by-step, photo-supported report that drivers could complete quickly under real-world conditions.

To make the form even more intuitive, I traced chassis and container illustrations in Adobe Illustrator and exported them as SVGs for use in the app. These visuals help drivers easily identify and report specific areas of damage, reducing guesswork and improving report accuracy.

Using Figma, I created full UI prototypes and user flows, while collaborating closely with the development team to implement the backend email submission and ensure a smooth user experience across devices.

INVOLVEMENT

I led the UX/UI design and workflow creation for the Damage Form project.

I sourced and adapted external design inspiration to fit our drivers’ needs, created original chassis/container graphics by tracing them in Adobe Illustrator, and optimized them for mobile performance using SVG exports.

Throughout the project, I worked cross-functionally with the equipment team and developers to align on requirements, validate designs, and deliver a feature that replaced an error-prone manual process with a fast, structured, and reliable reporting tool.
